Work With The Woodlands School: Employers & Providers

At The Woodlands School, we are committed to preparing our students for adulthood. We work closely with employers, training providers, and community organisations to ensure students develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need for life, work, and further learning.

We know employers across the UK are concerned about skills gaps and the work-readiness of young people. Help us help you by supporting our students and shaping the next generation workforce.

Why Partner With Us?

Working with our school gives you the opportunity to:

  • Inspire students and help them explore future careers
  • Promote diversity and inclusion for young people with SEND
  • Support your corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals
  • Raise awareness of your sector and employer brand
  • Develop the skills, attitudes, and confidence of future employees

Our careers programme aligns with the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring all student experiences are high quality, meaningful, and measurable.

Ways to Get Involved

We welcome employers and providers to take part in activities such as:

  • Employer Talks & Q&A Sessions
  • Workplace Tours & Business Visits
  • Mentoring & Coaching
  • Enterprise Activities & Project Work
  • Work Experience & Supported Placements
  • Job Shadowing
  • Mock Interviews & CV Preparation

These activities help students understand the world of work, explore Labour Market Information (LMI), and develop social, communication, and employability skills.

Why Your Involvement Matters

Students gain valuable insights by engaging with employers:

  • Learn about different sectors and job roles
  • Explore routes into employment and further education
  • Build confidence and professional behaviours
  • Put social and communication skills into practice
  • Understand local job opportunities

Employer engagement is a key part of our careers programme and supports Gatsby Benchmarks 2, 3, 5, 6 & 7.

Provider Access Legislation (PAL)

We follow the Provider Access Legislation to ensure all students in Years 7–14 can access information about:

  • Apprenticeships
  • Supported Internships
  • Traineeships
  • Technical Education & T Levels
  • Vocational Courses
  • Specialist SEND Post-16 Provision
  • Local Employment Pathways

We aim to provide inclusive, structured, and accessible opportunities for all students. All provider visits and sessions are integrated into our careers programme and advertised via the school website.

Get Involved

We would love to hear from you if you can:

  • Speak to students about your job or sector
  • Host a workplace visit or tour
  • Offer a work experience or supported internship placement
  • Mentor or guide students in small groups
  • Partner with us long-term to support careers education

Your involvement helps us prepare students for the world of work and build a strong, skilled, and confident future workforce.
